Press Statement Sept. 14th, 2023
Exclusion of Hon. Anamero from Okpella Kingship, Boundary Dispute, and BEDC’s Electricity Issue
Below is our response to educate the populace because opinion is free, facts are sacred.
Whereas DANCO is a distinguished businessman, philanthropist and politician, Okpella Kingship is purely not political and must not be allowed to be politicized. When Okpellans are ready, they will chose their crown to fill the vacant stool. The stool had been vacant since 2019. So while calling DANCO?
- ON BEDC AND OKPELLA LIGHT ISSUE:
Light issue is a perennial challenge in Nigeria and not peculiar to Okpella. There’s a committee in charge of light under Okpella CDA which l believed are handling the light issue already. Records abounds with numerous interventionist approaches in tackling challenges confronting Okpella and beyond aside LIGHT issue by DANCO.
Recently, BEDC alarmed that their staff were molested by persons whom they alleged were Okpellans and the rest is history. At present, some parts of Okpella now enjoys light depending on the geographical location.
So why dragging DANCO?
- ON EDO-KOGI BOUNDARY DISPUTE:
For your information, Boundary issue is under the supervision of state government led by Governor Obaseki of Edo state. Specifically, the boundary dispute between Edo state (Etsako East in Okpella) and Kogi state (Okene LGA in Okene) have been laid to rest since last year courtesy of DANCO’s efforts alongside reputable Okpella Leaders and pioneered by emeritus Senator Francis Alimikhena.
What’s remaining now is the financial resources to monument the boundary where a Wall would be built to avoid future rancour.
As legislator, the primary duty of Hon. Anamero Dekeri is law making while executives such as Etsako East LGA Chairman, Edo state Governor, National Boundary Commission, etc are the requisite channels to convey such complaints.
As House of Representatives Member where Okpella is part of, DANCO is making appreciable efforts in collaborating with his brothers in the Upper Chamber to revisit the Okpella-Okene boundary issue in a bid to implement the proposed monument.
Conclusions
I can tell you for free that the Okpella-Kogi Boundary Dispute has been laid to rest on the preponderance of documentary and non documentary evidence in favor of Okpella being an historical boundary between Northern and Southern Nigeria since Colonial times as far back as 1914. Nevertheless, DANCO will continue to take front stage in piloting the affairs of Okpella, Etsako and Edo state.
